It was in 1967, Lounis Aït Menguellet was just seventeen years old when he appeared for the very first time in a radio show, "the Artists of tomorrow" animated by Cherif Kheddam. Our young poet interpreted Ma trud (if you cry). The one who was used to sing among friends under the moonlight of Ighil Bwammas, his native village, becomes, in a few months, this heartbreaking idol. The transition towards the "engaged" songs was smoother than what was said. What will be his future work has started to take shape in his first song Idaq wul (the oppressed heart).

Later, he reopens the file of the love to close it with Tayri (Love). Within this interval, he did a play on word in the song Qim deg rebbi-w (come on my lap) referring in fact to his guitar. He sets the tone starting from the song Ali d waâli (end of the Seventies) which recalls the itinerary of a despot.
